An analysis of inhumane glue traps for Delray Beach rats

Having Delray Beach rats in your home can be dangerous and destructive. Rats are known to carry diseases that they transmit to humans through biting and scratching. You can also get sick by coming into contact with their urine or scat. Rats and mice are quite rampant in densely populated, urban areas. This means that the chances are very good that one will enter your home at some point.

Getting rid of rats
It is very important that you get rid of Florida rats that are in your home. They breed at an alarming rate and if left unchecked will take over your home. Various traps on the market will enable you to get rid of these rodents. They are not all equally humane.

The glue trap
One of the least humane traps available is the glue trap. It is essentially a piece of cardboard, or a slab of wood, covered with a strong adhesive. It is placed in an area that rats frequently run. When the rats run over it their feet become stuck and they cannot move.

Why is it so inhumane?
Once the Delray Beach rat walks or runs over the glue covered surface it is stuck. They will then try and wriggle themselves loose. Often this means that other parts of the rats’ body will become stuck to the surface. Unable to move, they will eventually suffocate. If the rat does not suffocate, it will remain stuck there until it starves to death. This could take a few days. If it does manage to free itself, the chances are that it has sustained serious injuries and will die somewhere else. These traps don’t only catch rats. Larger animals, like birds and cats, have been known to become stuck on them. If the trap is in an area that is not monitored, they could also die. Even if they are found, it is not easy to free them. Animals that are left stuck will also become easy prey for larger animals.

Why do people use the traps?
Rats are pests and people become desperate. The glue trap is inexpensive and can be made at home.

Are there other options?
Other cheap options are available. One of the main ways to keep Florida rats away is by making sure that there is no food or water available to them. This will make them move on to somewhere more accommodating.
